Dairy development and poultry are major activities Selective breeding of indigenous breeds of cattle like Hallikar, Amrithmahal and Khillarin are propagated in Bankapura Production of tomato among other vegetables highest in the district


Favourable natural conditions for mulberry cultivation Sericulture being practiced for the past 30 years. Ranebennur block is potentially shown and has got 600 hectares of mulberry cultivaiton

Animal Husbandry

Sheep and goat rearing are confined mainly to Haveri and Ranebennur taluks and also to specific communities. Pig rearing is seen all the taluks Ranebennur leads in terms of number of cattle head followed by Haveri, Hirekerur and Hangal
