Located in the Northeast part of  the State surrounded by Gulbarga in the North, Raichur in the South, Bijapur in the West and Hedal of AP in the East 

This district was carved out from the erstwhile Gulbarga district as the 30th  district of Karnataka on 10 April 2010 

Divided into 3 Talukas namely Shahapur, Shorapur and Yadgir 

Yadgir is the district headquarter, 530 Km away from Bangalore 

Yadgir district is the 2nd smallest district in the state 

Vast stretch of fertile black cotton soil of the district is known for bumper red gram, cotton, jawar crops & Groundnut

Kadechur power project is a proposed 1320 MW coal-fired power plant promoted by Atlas Power India. Rich uranium deposits in the Gogi belt covering the villages of Gogi, Ukkinal, Darshanapur in Shahapur taluk, and Thinthini and other places in Surapur taluk

The state has exclusive pharma SEZs in Yadgir. Extent of land-500 acres located in Kadechur and Badihala village (approx. 38 km from Yadgir city)

Handloom

Handloom is the traditional craft of the district with about 1000 looms spread all over the district as per census 2011. Indutrial area of 3,232 acre of land at Kadechur and Badihala village
